Lower and Upper Blepharoplasty

Also known as an eyelid surgery improves the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, and gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding area of your eyes, making you look more rested and alert.

Lower Blepharoplasty:

Very little if any skin is removed during lower eyelid surgery.

If you have a pocket of fat beneath your lower eyelids but don’t need to have any skin removed, Dr. Farrokhi may perform a transconjunctival blepharoplasty.

In this procedure the incision is made inside your lower eyelid, leaving no visible scar.

It is usually performed on younger patients with thicker, more elastic skin.

In a transconjunctival blepharoplasty, a tiny incision is made inside the lower eyelid and fat is removed with fine forceps.

No skin is removed, and the incision is closed with dissolving sutures. In the lower eyelid surgery no scar is seen.

Upper Blepharoplasty:

The amount of excess skin to be removed is marked.

The initial incision is made along the normal eyelid crease across the entire lid and extending slight upward and outward into the lateral canthus.

Most commonly performed under local anesthesia .

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is a relatively safe and proven operation. Because the eyes are the focal point on the face, the procedure may achieve anything from a subtle to dramatic improvement in a person’s appearance, depending of the starting point and patient preferences.

For this and such reasons as its relatively modest cost and much quicker recovery, many people choose blepharoplasty over full face lift.

After Care: Dr.Farrokhi will lubricate your eyes with ointment.

Most patients don’t require pain medication. Stitches will be removed a week after surgery; you should be able to read or watch TV right away.

To speed healing and reduce swelling and bruising, use ice packs or cold compresses on your eyes and keep your head elevated for the first few days. Your eyes may feel gummy, and after a week or so, may feel dry or itchy; we will show you how to clean them, and can recommend eye drops to keep them lubricated. Most people can get back to work and regular activities within 10-14 days.
